Construction diary Ball catching net system

By renewing the ball net system towards Erich-Weinert-Straße, another marauding part of our sports facility is fundamentally renovated and renewed. The 70.5 meter long plant will be built with a continuous height of 5 meters. It consists of 2 meter high double rod mats and a 3 meter high ball net.

With the construction of this new facility, long game interruptions due to ball losses in the event of missed shots are to be prevented in the future and, above all, the risk of accidents in the event of ball shots on passing vehicles is to be avoided. The cost of the installation is €26,500.
70 percent of these are financed by support under the rural development programme in the Free State of Saxony (2014-2020 RDP) and 30 percent by our SVFL e.V.

Construction was originally scheduled to begin in April and to be completed by the end of May. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences, the construction project has been delayed by 2 months.  With this construction diary you will get an overview of the chronological progress of the construction project, which was completed on 27.07.2020.

18.01.2020:

During the first operation of the year, the old ball net system was prepared for dismantling by numerous club members.
In addition to removing the dilapidated, broken wire mesh fence, the extinguishing net was also removed. This is necessary because in the coming weeks the 19 coniferous trees will be felled by the building yard of the city of Lunzenau. Due to the fact that the new ball catching net system is to be built a few meters further towards the road, the trees, which have also added neatly to the running track, must be completely removed. After completion of the extension, new plants and trees are to be planted on the sports field grounds in early autumn 2020 as compensation.

21.-23.01.2020

Within 3 days, a total of 19 conifers were felled by the municipal building yard. In order to avoid a complete closure of the adjacent Erich-Weinert-Straße, the trees were first shortened and then felled in the direction of the sports field.
In the coming weeks, the tree trunks will be milled and the root plant, which has grown into the raceway, removed.

11.04.2020

On Saturday, 11.04.2020, further work steps were carried out in compliance with the hygiene regulations in the run-up to the refurbishment of our ball fishing net system. In addition to shortening the tree trunks in preparation for milling, the old ailing metal rods were also separated and crushed. In the coming weeks, the area will now be regulated so that the new plant can then be built.

23.04.2020

On Thursday, 23.04.2020, the tree stubs were milled by the municipal building yard with a milling machine up to about 15 cm below the earth's surface. Thus, in the next step, the area can now be regulated as soon as the previous foundations of the old dilapidated columns have been removed.

02.05.2020

On Saturday, 02.05.2020, the concrete foundations of the old ball net system were removed and the area straightened and prepared for the next construction phase as part of a small work operation in compliance with hygiene regulations.

A big thank you to all helpers, especially to our sponsor construction and services Heiko Flachs, for the great work done.

In mid-May, the foundations including the approximately 30 columns for the new ball net system will be laid. Finally, the 2 meter high double rod mat fence and the 3 meter high fishing net are installed.

16.07.2020

The new construction of our ball catching net system has been going into the hot phase since Monday... almost half of the new system has already been built... but until this is completely completed, many more hours have to be invested.

22.07.2020

The construction of the columns and the 2-meter-high double-bar mats has been completed, and the first large advertising banners have already been installed as privacy screens. In the coming days, the area will be regulated and the 3 meter high network will be installed.

28.07.2020

With the installation of the ball net and the final earthworks, the measure was completed on 28 July 2020.
