New department established in SV Fortschritt Lunzenau e.V. – from June the range of sports will be expanded with hiking
It has been in the planning for many years, now we can finally announce with great anticipation of the soon start that with the founding of the department Hiking the sports offer in our sports club will continue to grow. From mid-June – as soon as the current situation around the coronavirus pandemic allows – we want to start offering this service. We are planning hikes in our region as well as excursions to other supra-regional regions, which should initially take place on Saturdays. By joining the Saxon Hiking and Mountain Sports Association (Sächsische Wander- und Bergsportverband e.V.) and training qualified instructors, we as a club create optimal conditions for an attractive sports offer. With the target group 19-99 years, the new sports offer is available to every age group, so to speak. Depending on the interest, different age groups can later be formed within the department.
Here is a small excerpt from the newsletter of the Saxon Hiking and Mountain Sports Association (Sächsische Wander- und Bergsportverband e.V.):
The Muldental is located in the heart of the metropolitan region of Saxony, the center of the city triangle Leipzig, Chemnitz and Dresden. It has a lot to offer and is an ideal place for excursions and hikes in beautiful countryside. The general term ‘Muldental’ actually conceals the fact that there is both the valley of the Freiberg Mulde and the valley of the Zwickau Mulde. Both regions are known to be ideal hiking areas and again and again an attraction for our hiking friends from near and far. However, what is not so common in both regions are local hiking clubs. This makes the current activities for the establishment of a hiking group in Lunzenau with the support of the SWBV all the more gratifying. On 1 April 21, for example, a first consultation took place with the club president of the sports club ‘Progress Lunzenau’ (SVFL), sports friend Tommy Haeder. It is planned to establish a hiking department in the SVFL soon. Interested parties already exist, including the designated department head Carmen Petrus. Their initiative actually provided the impetus for this. And hiking friend Petrus is already interested in the next training course as trainer C (riding / hiking) at SWBV. The future hiking department in the SVFL will then also join the regional association WVCE and thus the SWBV. These are undisputedly commendable initiatives as positive signals in the somewhat bleak time of the corona pandemic.
When asked how the idea came about, Sportfreund Haeder said: “We have had the idea of setting up a hiking department in our sports club for many years. Unfortunately, it mostly stayed with the idea. However, due to the Nordic Walking courses conducted in the past year, we have received numerous inquiries as to whether we could also set up an independent hiking department in our sports club. As the board of directors of the association, we received positive signals from Carmen Petrus. In the coming weeks, we will do everything necessary to set up our new department and look forward to offering another sporting offer in our club in the future.”
And Carmen Petrus says: “Nature and social contacts give us people back lost energy and joie de vivre. Even in the past centuries, 'bathing in nature' has always given people the strength to overcome bleak times, and right now, after a long year of the pandemic, we need something to look forward to! A hiking club combines both components and is a feasible project despite the pandemic, which does not have to be put on hold immediately because of too high incidences and negative values. Hiking gives back friends of life and hiking with like-minded people leads to social exchanges and this protects us from loneliness.”
Dieter Lommatzsch says: ‘In the Saxon Hiking and Mountain Sports Association (SWBV), the idea of setting up a Dept. of Hiking in the SVFL was received with great interest. New ideas and new initiatives are driving the migration movement in Saxony and should also be the impetus for initiatives in other regions of Saxony. And right now in the current situation, good ideas are needed.”
Interested parties can register in advance without obligation. We will announce the exact start of the first hike in a timely manner via the well-known association media.
