Members' meeting with great emotions, future-oriented decisions and numerous awards!

On Friday, 30.10.2020, the regular general meeting of our sports club took place in the dining room of the Evangelical High School in Lunzenau in compliance with the hygiene and distance rules. A total of 49 members of the association took part and first heard the detailed work and accountability report of the association's board of directors for the past year.

When we started in January to shape the club year 2020, our main goals were:

  • To further develop the association.
  • Ensuring sports operations.
  • Qualify and strengthen our practice and department leaders.
  • Continuing to modernize our sports facilities.
  • Filling our community with life.

And highlights such as:

  • 70th anniversary of the association
  • Football talk "Meyer meets Geyer"
  • Assembly of Members
  • Club Christmas party

to organize and carry out.

And, of course, to push ahead with our "project of the century" – the new construction of our multifunctional building. All this was challenging enough and there was no mention of ‘Corona’ at the time.

Now the year 2020 is coming to an end. Yes, and the sports club year 2020 is already over: Thank you Corona! The sports business is closed and the central club Christmas celebrations are unfortunately cancelled or have to be postponed. But we look back on a successful sports year 2020.

The smooth execution of our ordinary general meeting under the corona-related restrictions on 30.10.2020 alone is a success. Thanks to the many preparers, our cooperation partner EOS Lunzenau (for making the premises available), the supporters such as Marcus Thom (position of the sound system) and the city administration Lunzenau as well as our members.

Thanks also to the Board and our President.

We saw with what pride Tommy Haeder reflected on the year:

  • new department established (athletics),
  • Sports courses belly-leg-po and Nordic-walking launched,
  • invests in the training of trainers,
  • “Turkey Fan Journey”,
  • roofing of the spectator terrace realized,
  • Ball catching net system built,
  • Celebrating the jubilee of the association,
  • ‘Meyer meets Geyer’ football talk,
  • Barbecue stand Kaufland Burgstädt organized,
  • the expansion of the storage room for the football department,
  • a storage container for the training materials for school and club sports.

By far not everything could be enumerated.

However, it was important, and this should not go unmentioned at this point, that our treasurer Steffen Rochsburg was able to present solid figures. This is partly thanks to the loyalty and the increased number of our sponsors, partners and supporters. Yes, and especially with regard to our planned construction of the multifunctional building on the sports field, this is special and worth mentioning twice.

It is for this reason that we proudly report on the conduct of our general meeting. It was also on the basis of the decision taken last year to decide on the additional "burden" for our members for the next 3 years, setting the amount. This was decided by a large majority of votes. Successful because this is the basis for eligible funding. Thanks for that. Details can be found in the respective publications of our members.

Here, too, the author wants to spread optimism:

With the publication of this article, we hold the funding decision in our hands!

I was happy to take part in this event, to take note of what has been done and what has been achieved, and to consciously stand up against all the others ‘Corona’. This gives strength for the 2021 and makes you want to work for the upcoming association.

If it gets emotional then I – we – are all the more in it. As with the 2019 Christmas party, the practical agenda item ‘honours’ was also an emotional highlight for our 2020 General Assembly. All honorees cannot be enumerated: Represented are the following:

  • our Green Keeper team,
  • our sales container team,
  • our Zeugwart team,
  • And to her surprise, our board member Carolin Endmann.

In addition, I would like to come back to the emotional climax.

When I was able to experience the applause with which the oldest participant in an exercise leader license training in Saxony, who was almost 80 years old, was given: ‘pure goosebumps’ – because she is a member and committed to the Lunzenau sports club!

When I saw that participants had tears in their eyes when we were able to accept Wolfgang Krenkel and Karl Heyl as honorary members: ‘pure pride’ – because I am also a member of the Lunzenau sports club.
