On 19 September 2024, Philipp Hartewig, Member of the Bundestag, was in Lunzenau.

The goal was not any round of conversation or initiation.

As chairman of the Kreissportjugend Mittelsachsen, he headed almost unnoticed around 4:45 p.m. to our sports hall in the multi-purpose building in order to honour our trainer Melanie Peters as ‘Vereinsfunken’ together with the representative of the Kreissportbund and the head of the children’s and youth sports department. ‘Vereinsfunken’ is an award given by the Sportjugend of the Kreissportbund Mittelsachsen to young volunteers who themselves still take on responsibility in sport as young people. Just right for Melanie Peters, who has been teaching our big elementary school students to enjoy the sport on a weekly basis since autumn 2020. Both a varied program and the setting of the conditions for the sports badge are part of the training content. When our department organizes events again, Melanie is usually also there to support.

In addition, she runs the practice in the aerobics department, whose participants could well be the big sisters or even mothers.

A big thank you and a lot of fun with the present.

And if a member of the Bundestag ever attended the training session, of course our children could also get rid of their questions, to which everyone also got an answer, even on the income of a member of the Bundestag. We also reminded the children that they are the sports youth in the district of Mittelsachsen.
