On 01.07.2023 the Central German Championships of Athletics took place in Erfurt. Here our Lunzenau athletes were represented for the first time with 2 athletes. Benny Klauß had achieved the standards to be achieved both in the sprint and in the shotshot and thus qualified for a start at the Central German Championships. Benny showed his skills in an incredibly strong starter field on the 100 meter sprint discipline. With a time of 12.73 seconds, he finished 19th. Place of a total of 26 qualified starters. This was a very good performance – all athletes had to contend with the extreme wind. In the shot he could not show the 11.40 meters of a week before unfortunately again but with 11.03 meters he finished a good 9. Place.

Gina Klauß had qualified for participation in the javelin throw. It worked really well with her this time. Although the javelin throw was also strongly influenced by the wind, her first throw flew to 35.11 meters, which was a new personal best and at the end was enough for a very good 3rd place in the Erfurt Steigerwaldstadion.
